In addition to the ongoing profile optimization, we started active outreach on Upwork, sending 10-15 proposals per day on average. However, we faced some difficulties during the process.
At the time of Scalifier OppGen™️ campaign, Unosoft's landing page was partially in development. Some links were broken and pages not displayed. As a provider of web development services, this is not the type of image you want to convey with your website. We were worried that some of the Upwork leads may be concerned with the status of the landing page and fail to reach out, decreasing our conversion.
Missing information at the start
As mentioned earlier in the article, it took a while (1.5 months) for Unosoft to prepare case studies for their portfolio.
A great case study well tailored in your cover letter, is a strong chance of winning an Upwork project. For a few weeks, our SDR team was doing outreach missing the key component of case studies in their cover letters.
Due to the incomplete landing page, we were unable to retrieve the detailed information about Unosoft services and their full technology stack, which also took a few weeks to be prepared.
Long communication before accepting an offer
In this case, some incidents happened when our client had a long conversation with the lead instead of accepting the offer.
Once the client has solved the lead's problem gratis during the conversation which caused the lack of possibility to get money and positive feedback on Upwork.
No communication from the client side
Web-development agencies are always busy: Unosoft is not an exception. It's normal: their services are in huge demand.
Unosoft didn't assign a dedicated sales/project manager to deal with the endless stream of new leads from Upwork (1-2 per day), which in retrospect was a mistake. Therefore communication with Upwork leads was prolonged: for urgent projects, the client was answering through 2-3 days, which was unacceptable.As a result, the leads we've generated have been forced to choose another contractor due to long response times.
While initiating the communication with some leads to start discussing project specs, Unosoft didn't follow up on their initial messages.As we've noticed that, we offered our help with doing consistent follow-ups with our existing leads, which has led us to create our own branded follow-up system.
As a result of mistimed communication, 0 deals out of 69 were closed during this period.
